Our Swim School offers classes which cater for babies, preschool and primary aged children. Parents, including dads, enjoy participating in our parent and baby classes. From this introductory level, classes progress to beginner dogpaddle classes. As the children improve, we also include instruction in overarm, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.

At each level, water safety skills are included in our teaching program. At the beginning of each year, an emphasis is also placed on developing children’s confidence for participation in school swimming carnivals. Adult beginner classes are offered subject to demand.

Denis Pontin’s Swim School was established in 1981 and has been offering professional swimming teaching in a small, caring environment since that time.

Denis Pontin, M.Ed. (Leisure Studies), B.P.E. (Uni. W.A.), Dip. Teach. (Syd.) and his wife Sue (Dip. O.T.) are involved in the day-to-day running of the school.

The enclosed pool, which is 5m x 10m, is heated to over 30 degrees all year. It provides an ideal environment and design for teaching swimming. Only one class is taught in the pool at any one time with a maximum of 6 students.

Each class is half an hour in duration. The small children feel secure and the older children can develop their strokes and technique with a teacher in the water providing encouragement and correction. Parents are welcome to stay in the reception area and watch their child’s lesson through the glass sliding doors which lead to the pool. If you prefer, you may choose to sit in the garden under the umbrellas overlooking the pool.
